Amanah Saham Nasional or ASN in short, is known to be the first and largest unit trust schemes in Malaysia. It was initially launched back in April 1981 by the country’s third Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dato’ Hussein Onn. The idea to establish such a unit trust Scheme came from Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh bin Tengku Mohd Hamzah. It is a scheme to mobilize savings for equity investment especially for the Bumiputras. In other words, the objective of the scheme is to generate a reasonable level of income distribution as well as capital appreciation to the unit holders
