Fine Motor Skills Toddler Activity

DIY Fine Motor Skills Toddler Activity!

Moms you are going to love this toddler activity! I made this for my daughter when she was 2 1/2. She is now 3 and still plays with this! Need a little time to yourself to finish dinner, have a cup of coffee (glass of wine) or do the laundry? Of course you do!  Try this DIY Fine Motor Skills Toddler Activity.  This will keep your little one entertained and give you at least 15 minutes of quiet.

Fine Motor Skills Toddler Activity:

  • I re-purposed her snack container; you could use really anything that has a lid and  that you can put holes in.
  • Since the container is more short and wide (than tall and long) I cut the straws in half.
  • Make about 3-4 holes in the lid. I have used scissors and a hole puncher. I use whatever is handy. Don’t make the holes too big as you want the straw to go through and stay in the container.

  •   Done!

Once all the straws are gone they have to open the lid, take the straws out and then replace the lid (maybe with your help depending on age) and start it again. My toddler will even shake it to hear the straws rattle. She also likes to grab all the pink straws first.  This is something you can pack in your diaper bag (mom purse) and bring with you while waiting at the doctor’s office, a restaurant, a grandparent’s house…anywhere that you want to try to keep your toddler occupied.
