Velcro Baby Busy Board!

Who doesn’t love an activity for your baby that is free or an easy DIY “activity”? I made this DIY Velcro busy board for my daughter, when she was 10 months old. She continued playing with it for about 4-5 months. Trust me your baby will be kept busy!  Note, this was before I decide to blog on mommy tips, sooo I don’t have many pictures to share.  Once I showed Sofia how the hands rip off and how to stick them back on, she was hooked.  Plus, it makes that tearing noise, which would make her laugh.  Bonus!  What you need: Velcro, tape, laminate sheets, scissors and construction paper.

This is how you make your Velcro baby busy board:

First decide on your image/object.  Here are some suggestions: cut out shapes on Colored Construction Paper, use animal pictures from a magazine, or  if your baby is in day care usually they do lots of craft projects where they color your child’s hands and feet.  I took advantage of the daycare crafts, used hand-prints of Sofia, and laminated them.  Once you have your image cut out, use self adhesive laminating sheets to laminate (self-explanatory).  I like Avery Self-Adhesive Laminating Sheets. After that, you just size them down. Then you laminate a piece of colored construction paper to create your busy baby board base.

Next, Velcro the back of each image and then use the Velcro backing in random spots on your board.  This board will be for your baby to attach and pull off the colored hands or images.

Lastly, find a location to put the your Velcro baby busy board.  I actually used this in two different locations.  One spot was her cozy corner.  If you don’t have a cozy corner, consider making one.  This was Sofia’s spot in a corner of her room, where she would plop down with books and “read” or play with her stuffed animals.  Later as she started to walk and was a little older, I moved the Velcro busy board by the doorway of her room.  She was fascinated with the doorway and thought it was fun to shut her bedroom door.  That in itself was a game to her, (little stinker).

That’s it! Hope your child finds this easy DIY activity as entertaining as mine did!

Thanks for reading~
