There are many types of Disease to which a child is susceptible. It is a rare event for a young child to go through childhood without contracting some type of infectious disease or another. Even the common cold, constipation is considered to be a disease. So here I’m simply describing some common childhood diseases to be aware of.

Worried?

It is all too easy to forget that the immune system of any young child is not yet fully developed and unless antibodies have been created.

These offer protections in the form of child vaccinations against such diseases as infantile paralyses or diphtheria for instance. Then the child will be exposed to possible infection by the latest child disease which is currently going the rounds.

All diseases, apart from inherited and genetic diseases generate from the ingress. If pathogens into the body whether it be the human body, any other type of animal or even a plant.

Such pathogens consist of either bacteria or the much smaller virus. Here are a few of the most common diseases to which any young child may be susceptible.

You can recognize Chicken pox by the the appearance of red, itchy spots or blisters showing over the whole body. It can be highly contagious during the time that the diseases actually breaks out. Also, the blisters have not yet crusted over.

Treatment consists of the application of Calamine lotion or the administration of antihistamines to reduce the itchiness.

Whooping Cough

This is another common childhood disease caused by an infection by the Bordetella Pertussis bacteria. These affects the respiratory system resulting in a nasal discharge.

This is accompanied by prolonged fits of coughing. Also, followed by wheezy breathing usually worse of a night time. The the condition is infectious during the first week of infection. You can arrange treatment  readily by the administration of a course of antibiotics.

Scarlet Fever

Infection from the bacteria Streptococcus is the cause of this condition. Inhaling droplets make the same result. Sneezes or coughs from an infected person is the reason for this.

The symptoms show as a moderate fever accompanied by a sore throat and a flushed face along with a rash frequently located in the armpits or groin. Antibiotics is the easy treatment for scarlet fever.

Though you should keep infected child at home. Keep him/her out of contact with other children for at least three days following the start of the treatment.
