5 Simple Ways to Get Kids to Read Even More!

I swear… these suggestions work! The evidence speaks for itself :)
1. Let your kids choose what they read! Obviously this can get expensive and not-super convenient if you don’t live right by a library, but I promise, if you let kids choose their next Book, they will be much more likely to read it! (Personally, I would recommend using Epic! -- a reading app that carries more than 15,000 kids’ books -- and they even give you reading personalized recommendations based on what you’ve read before! You can access it from any device, and it’s less than the cost of 1 book per month… you get your first month free, just for signing up. Try it here >> I want Epic! FREE for one month!
2. Read together! Did you know that reading aloud to your kids (or having them read aloud to you) is one of the best ways to build foundation skills, introduce new vocabulary, help you speak fluidly. And it’s a great way to bring a story to life
3. Lead by example. If you’re never reading, why should you expect your kids, too? Even if it’s just reading a magazine article or the newspaper, I show that I set time for reading. Better yet, make family reading time an after dinner ritual or a daily habit.
Ask your kids about what they read. Chances are you Love talking about things that excite you. Kids feel the same way! Ask them about what they’re reading, the characters, the plot, what they liked or didn’t like. I bet they’ll love explaining to you what happened!
5. Try something other than regular books. I love actual books, but sometimes, they can look or feel daunting or just be a hassle to lug around. As I mentioned before, Epic! Is a great app, because it offers a huge selection of books and you can access it on any device, including your phone or iPad. Plus, they have thousands of audio books, read-to-me books and videos.
Are any of my favorite's yours too? If so let me know by leaving me a comment below. I always love hearing from you!
