The Walking Dead Season 7 Theories: Is Daryl Dixon Our Only Hope?

Since AMC's The Walking Dead's season premiere, fans have had a TON to think and consider. By performing a quick Google search results in a swarm of Walking Dead gossip.
It's rare that I ever disagree with Rick's decisions and actions, but I think that Rick's attempt of freeing Daryl from Negan's tight hold was a bad decision. Negan thrives off other's suffering, pain and torment. He already knows that Rick wants Daryl back. Even if Negan had considered releasing Daryl, which I think was never his plan because he's already taken too much of "liking" to Daryl (and Carl, for that matter).
Since Negan gets a thrill out of "dangling" things above others head, now he'll never let Daryl go. Daryl's only way out at this point is by either escaping (which we've already seen is impossible) or if and when Negan's group can be taken down by others.
One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb is the fact that it's been stated repeatedly that Negan's group can't be beat due to mass numbers. Is this another way the writer's are trying to condition their viewers to believe? This could definitely be the case. The writer's have already pushed us into a corner with Abraham and Glenn's gruesome deaths, reiterating the strength of Negan's group and the weakness of Rick's group. While I agree that Negan's extremely large group is one of the main reasons to fear as of now, I'm still not convinced that it's a good enough reason to feel the need to live the rest of their lives as Negan's servants.
There's definitely a well hidden loophole somewhere and that loophole may just be the key to Negan's past. A past which created the Negan we now see today. Will The Walking Dead writer's give us insight into Negan's obvious disturbing past? I certainly hope so because it should give us a chance to understand why Negan's the a-hole he is, what kind of person Negan was prior to the apocalypse, how Lucille got her name, and why Negan is so attached to Lucille (as if she's an old childhood comfort blankie).
There's a few possible ways I think Negan could come out with his past. One way could be Negan telling Daryl or even Dwight slipping up (because we've already seen how much Dwight despises Negan) and providing Daryl with this valuable information. Can Daryl get this information back to Rick? While it's possible, I'm still trying to figure out how this can be done. Or, it could be that someone in Rick's group (I'm thinking along the lines of Carol, Morgan, Sasha, Maggie, or Tara) comes across a newcomer that reveals Negan's past. Will we see an extremely weak side of Negan—the reason that Negan plays on other's weaknesses?
Could it be that Lucille was named after his late wife, girlfriend, mother, grandmother, or child? I can't say for sure, but when Robert Kirkman was on an episode of Talking Dead it was stated that Negan wasn't always a monster. This suggests to me that we should most likely get a thorough background on Negan's past. In fact, a background that will leave fans feeling somewhat sorry for Negan (hard to believe huh?)
As for Father Gabriel's plan for faking Maggie's death, it was a totally unexpected,well-thought out and brilliant idea. It makes me shudder though to think what would happen if Negan or anyone in his group happens to see Maggie at the hilltop. This most definitely would result in even more death's for Rick's group, possibly pregnant Maggie or Maggie living out her life as another of Negan's toys.
On the other hand, faking Maggie's death might just be what Rick needs to refuel his fire, pulling him out of the mindset that he needs to live out the rest of his life under Negan's thumb.
From the preview of the next Walking Dead episode 'The Go-Getters', it appears that we might be seeing a "nail" driven between Carl and Rick. Carl doesn't agree with Rick succumbing to Negan and this is definitely going to create major conflict for this father and son.
Another HUGE mistake Rick's group made was keeping their damn gun inventory list, that was a really careless move. The first thing they should have done when they got back to Alexandria was destroy the gun inventory list. I'm sure after they're gruesome night with Negan, the gun inventory list wasn't even a thought on their mind. If they had destroyed the list, they may have still had the Glock 9 & 22.
It's inevitable that Negan and his group will be around for awhile and we most likely won't be seeing a breakdown of Negan's group at least for awhile longer.
It's completely obvious that Negan's threat of being "everywhere" is starting to unravel just a bit. We see this with Maggie's faked death and also with the fact that he hadn't noticed and if he had noticed, he didn't mention that Sasha was missing.
It's no secret that Negan's always looking for a way to get in the perfect "dig" to keep other's emotional wounds ripped wide open. This is his way of maintaining psychological control over Rick's group and even his own.
Spencer is another issue jeopardizing Rick's group as we've seen. Was I the only one that felt chilling resemblance to Negan during the tense scene between Rick and Spencer? It seemed to me that Negan has rubbed off on Rick just a bit. Regardless, Spencer deserved it. This might also be the start of seeing a whole new Rick.
Negan's large group needs to be taken out little by little (and I mean little!) It's the only way for the survival of not only Rick's group, but other's as well. It's a chance of stepping out of Negan's dark shadow forever.
We've been thrown into an unwanted new terrifying world. Either way, the existence of our beloved characters is at the mercy of The Walking Dead writer's. Hopefully, they'll give us a spark of hope.
We want to hear your thoughts? Do you think Rick's group has any chance of taking down Negan and his group? Leave your thoughts in the comments, we love hearing from you!
