Importance of Vitamin C and D for Your Baby.

Vitamin C and D are essential food compound that found in different types of food. They have more importance for increasing body and mind of a baby. There are seven types of vitamin. But in aspect of importance vitamin C and D are important especially for baby. If there is lack of these vitamin your baby may be attacked disease like rickets and skin disease. Different kinds of skin disease may occur due to lack of vitamin C. To avoid this situation you have to know more about vitamin where it mostly found.

Sources of vitamin C and D

There are only small amounts of these in milk as it comes from the cow and in solid foods that are given early. However, in the United State vitamin D is added to all brands of evaporated milk and to pasteurize milk that is labeled “vitamin D milk.”

Breast milk may contain sufficient vitamin C if the mother’s diet is rich in citrus fruits and certain vegetables. But breast milk doesn’t contain enough vitamin D. Previously vitamin D was most often given in the form of fish-liver oil, and vitamin C in the form of orange juice.

But fish-liver oil is strong-smelling, stains the clothes and irritating to the lungs if choked on; orange juice is often spit up and sometimes causes rashes in the first few months. So nowadays many doctors prescribe a concentrated commercial preparation that contains vitamins D, C, and A. The dropper that comes with the bottle has lined showing 0.3 cc. and 0.6 cc. (three tenths and six tenths of a cubic centimeter). The fluid is drawn up in the dropper to the line that the doctor prescribes and then squirted directly into the baby’s mouth at the beginning of one of the feedings of the day. If you have no doctor to advise you, give 0.6 cc. (in most preparations this contains 1,000 units of D, 5,000 units of A, and 50 milligrams of C) winter and summer. Start at 1 month or earlier.

Multivitamins not usually essential

Doctors sometimes advise a “multivitamin” or “poly vitamin” preparation that contains a number of B vitamins, in addition to the A, C, and D, to be doubly sure that all the B-vitamin requirements are covered.

However, milk, cereals, and the other foods that babies and children eat usually provide sufficient vitamin B. The dosage of many multivitamin preparation is also 0.6 cc., which is squirted directly into the mouth before one feeding of the day. The main reason for not using one of these products routingly for children, aside from the fact that the added B vitamins are not necessary, is that they are more expensive.

Conclusion

There is no substitution of natural fruits and vegetables. So babies should give natural foods than multivitamins. There is limitation of multivitamins but there is no limitation of taking natural foods. This post will help you about source and importance of vitamin C and D.
