We want to take a step back today and talk about the foundations of Uncommon Parent.
We are going to give everyone a sense of what we are trying to do. Why we think it is a worthwhile pursuit. And why we think you should join us.
So. What is an Uncommon Parent? Seems like an odd title, right?
We believe it perfectly describes the journey and mission we should all be on as parents.
The Old System
“The system you are currently in is perfectly set up to give you the answer you are currently getting.” – Dallas Willard
The system we are currently in teaches our kids that money, status, appearance, sex and Facebook friends are valued above all else.
An UnCommon Parent is someone who believes that system is broken. And who decides to go first in creating and implementing a New System.

The majority of parents are allowing their child to be influenced by whatever the world deems appropriate. It is time for us to pause and reflect!
The New System
The New System is designed to take back our child’s influence from the world. It is designed to free our children from the worries of this life and point them toward a purposeful, passionate, satisfying one.
We have an idea of what some of this system looks like. A lot more of it we are still trying to figure out.
It is not one thing, or even five things. It is a lot of little things that add up over time.
It is a paradigm shift. We believe it starts by leveraging the every day moments we all experience.
Every post on this blog is written with that framework in mind. A lot of what we talk about relates to these every day moments and how we can handle and use them effectively.
Our Opportunity and Responsibility
As parents, we have a fantastic opportunity as well as a great responsibility. There may be no greater contribution we can make than the imprint we leave on our kids.
