Who wouldn’t want their child to be safe at all times? Especially in the car. Infant Car Seats (or step 1 car seats) are mandatory when you leave the hospital.
I closely reviewed the rankings of Protégez-vous and went to Trendy stroller to see the top 3 car seat recommendations.
After seing all the car seats, I chose the Maxi-cosi Mico AP because of its light weight. This aspect was important to me since it provided a lot of versatility during transportation.
Car Seat Maxi-cosi Mico (http://www.diapers.com)
Why is it great?
- Its weight. It is the lightest car seat I tried.
- Nice aesthetics.
- It is available in multiple colours.
- The seat cushion, headrest and protectors can all be removed and washed.
- It comes with a sun canopy.
- It comes with a headrest for the baby.
- The installation (rear-facing) in the car is simple.
- It is compatible with many strollers (with the purchase of adaptors). This included my stroller: the Bugaboo Cameleon 3.
- It accommodates infants from 5-22 pounds and up to 29” in height.
The downsides?
- Extremely narrow. Despite my child not being that big, it was always a struggle to nestle her in the seat. She therefore outgrew it extremely fast.
- Weight and height limits are low, and therefore can be reached quickly by your baby.
- For newborns, the seat doesn’t recline enough to achieve a flat position.
- Safety bands twist extremely often. Despite dissembling and reassembling the car seat multiple times, the bands still twisted after practically every use.
- The sun canopy is not very stable.
With all the downsides and especially my daughters cries of discomfort every time I placed her in this car seat, I cannot recommend it.
