This little adventure of my first ever Trek has entered the history books!! I took my trek at Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh. The valley is part of the GHNP (Great Himalayan National Park) and it got the tag of a UNESCO World Heritage site the same day that I trekked here! 23.6.2014!! |
We stayed at Khim Bharti's place. A homestay because it was not like a hotel. It was a blue house from where you could see and hear the River. It was my first time being so close to a river and I was very happy with the view I was so fascinated with this place that I decided to play hide-and-seek with my folks. But they were so confused that they just couldn't find my hiding place
I did a lot of fun things at Tirthan Valley. This was the first time I climbed a tree too |
And saw some flowers that looked like my milk bottle brush
I also sat on my first hammock where it took me a long time to find my balance. But I learnt something unique about this hammock too. It is handwoven and was taught to the Tirthan people by a German guy called Helmut whose wife, Cindrella, made some yummy jams and cakes |
I also met two sisters at the Nagini village in the valley. One had a beautiful baby and the other was brushing her teeth |
Moma and DC sat and had chai with our new friends while I was busy playing with their baby |
The water flow is very strong in the valley but I loved it because it always made me feel like nao-nao (bathing). This valley gets its name from the Tirthan river which is a tributary of the bigger river called Beas |
We came across something called a shrine. I've never seen anything like this before. It had all sorts of metal and auto spare parts stuffed into the tree! It was beautiful |
That's how small we are. That tiny red dot. And the reason why we did this trek was to reach the waterfall |
After almost two hours of walking ( I hardly walked though), hurrah, we finally reached the waterfall! |
The water was so nice and cold. I simply LOVED it! |
DC and I also crossed a bridge that was shaking so much that I was scared that it would break. But DC told me it was okay to walk on it
The only reason we came to Tirthan Valley was because Moma wanted to eat fresh Trout fish from the river EVERYDAY!! |
While Moma got to relish the trout everyday, I could enjoy it only once after which my tummy went poo-poo! But I'm glad the trout called us over to tell us so much more about Tirthan Valley
Moma got so busy with me that she couldn't even take a picture of her favourite dish so she clicked a pic of the trout poster at a nearby restaurant run by the Mitras
