Reading List - March '21

This month my main focus was, again, UFO research and the titles read definitely reflect that!

Read on for my book reviews, copied and pasted from my Goodreads account as per, or scroll down for my monthly book giveaway. :)

Flying Saucer Review

I read about 50 years worth of FSR journals this month...

The Men Behind the Flying Saucer Review by Steve Holland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I recently went on a mammoth read through of the FSR journals so this was a perfect companion! It was really interesting to learn more about the backgrounds and interpersonal relationships of those who brought the FSR into being.

The Truth Behind Men in Black by Jenny Randles
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading this reminded me all over again why Jenny Randles is one of the UK's best known authors when it comes to the strange and unusual - her work is always so eminently readable. I found myself wishing there was more detail and follow up of cases, but as a light casual read I couldn't fault it.

The Green Stone by Graham Phillips
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm sure I must have heard of this before 2021 but when I stumbled across a mention of the story in a BUFORA journal I couldn't remember it at all. The best thing to do seemed to be to start right back at the beginning - and it's easy to see why it had the impact it did. The book is very well put together, mostly keeping the balance of detailed information versus keeping the narrative moving about right.

It didn't give me 'the creeps' in the way some of its contemporaries do, e.g. Clive Harold's 'The Uninvited', but I still found it a page turner and am already on the lookout for the sequel.

The English Year by Steve Roud
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well researched and nicely presented compendium of English calendar traditions and folk customs. In contrast to similar books it's more academic and down to earth. Your mileage may vary on how much that appeals!

Alexa Commands for the Smart Home by Smart Home Insider
