Paris, often referred to as the “City of Love,” is also a city that welcomes families with open arms. With its iconic landmarks, delicious cuisine, and rich history, it’s a fantastic destination for parents looking to share the magic of travel with their children. In this guide, we’ll take you through a whirlwind 48-hour adventure in Paris, packed with tried and tested things to do in Paris with kids from our own recent visit to make your trip memorable for all the right reasons.

Day 1 Things to Do in Paris with Kids: Exploring Paris’ Treasures

Morning: Eiffel Tower

Kick off your Family adventure bright and early at the Eiffel Tower. Arriving early will help you beat the crowds and enjoy a quieter experience. Kids will love the elevator ride to the top for breathtaking panoramic views of Paris.

Late Morning: Seine River Cruise

Hop aboard a Seine River Cruise to get a unique perspective of the city’s famous landmarks. The gentle sway of the boat and the fascinating stories about the buildings along the riverbanks make this a memorable experience for kids.

Lunch: Champ de Mars Picnic

Immerse yourselves in the Parisian way of life by enjoying a classic picnic at Champ de Mars, the park near the Eiffel Tower. Grab fresh croissants, baguettes, and pastries from a local bakery, and let the kids run and play to their heart’s content.

Afternoon: Musée d’Orsay

Don’t miss the Musée d’Orsay, where even young kids can be captivated by the vibrant colors and dreamy scenes of Impressionist paintings. Look out for family-friendly activities and tours to engage the children.

Late Afternoon: Jardin des Tuileries

Stroll through the enchanting Jardin des Tuileries, a place where kids can enjoy playgrounds, fountains, and even occasional puppet shows. It’s a perfect way to unwind and have some fun before dinner.

Evening: Family Dinner

End the day with a delightful family dinner at a nearby cafe or restaurant. Many Parisian establishments offer kid-friendly menus and a warm, inviting atmosphere for families to relax and enjoy a meal together.

Day 2 Things to Do in Paris with Kids: Unveiling More Parisian Wonders

Morning: Louvre Museum

Begin your second day with a visit to the world-famous Louvre Museum. Don’t be daunted by the idea of taking kids to an art museum – the Louvre offers engaging family activities like treasure hunts and kid-friendly tours that will make the experience enjoyable for all. Top tip: Make sure you prebook tickets a few weeks before your visit to guarantee entry as slots get booked up well in advance!

Late Morning: Luxembourg Gardens

Head to the Luxembourg Gardens, a kid’s paradise. Rent a sailboat for the little ones to push around in the fountains, explore the playgrounds, and have a leisurely family walk in this charming oasis.

Lunch: Le Comptoir du Relais

Satisfy your hunger with a delicious Parisian lunch at Le Comptoir du Relais, a cozy spot with a relaxed atmosphere and options on the menu that are perfect for both parents and kids.

Afternoon: Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie

For science enthusiasts, a visit to the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie is a must. Interactive exhibits and a planetarium offer endless opportunities for young minds to explore and learn.

Late Afternoon: Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur

Take a short trip to the charming neighbourhood of Montmartre (my personal favourite!). Climbing the steps to Sacré-Cœur rewards you with a breathtaking view of Paris, and the cobblestone streets are a delight to explore with kids. Stop for a drink in one of the nearby charming cafes en route.

Evening: Dinner in Montmartre

Conclude your Parisian adventure with dinner at a cozy Montmartre restaurant. Consider indulging in some sweet treats at a nearby creperie to end the day on a sweet note. It would be rude not to!

If You Have Some Extra Time

A hop-on hop-off bus is a great way to see all the landmarks in one blast. We stayed on the bus the entire time and sitting up on the top deck with panoramic views is thrilling!
