4 ways to keep your children healthy

When you are a parent, one of the things that will constantly be on your mind is the health and wellbeing of your Children. You’ll want to know you’re doing everything you can to keep your children healthy. This comprises all aspects of health including physical, mental, and emotional.

The bottom line is parents are responsible for the health of their children. We have to make sure that they are eating right and staying active in order to keep our children healthy. There are many ways that parents can keep their children healthy and there is a lot to consider. But don’t worry; it doesn’t have to be overwhelming, and you can keep your children in the best possible physical, mental and emotional health children healthy with these tips:

A healthy diet

One of the most important things that you can do in terms of your children’s health is to give them a healthy diet and encourage healthy eating habits so that when they live by themselves, they can make good choices about food. 

The earlier you start this, the easier it will be, although it might still be a struggle to persuade your children to eat enough of their vegetables. This is why good education has to be part of their healthy diet; it’s crucial they understand why you are asking them to eat what they eat rather than just telling them they have to.

A healthy diet for children includes lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, lean protein sources like fish and beans, and healthy fats. These foods are all important in helping your child grow and develop. Children should limit sugar-sweetened beverages, such as soda and fruit juices, and avoid eating too much saturated fat, such as those found in full-fat dairy products. They should also be encouraged to eat a variety of foods, so they develop a wide range of tastes

Keep Them Hydrated

Something that is just as important as a healthy diet is ensuring children drink enough water throughout the day. Children can often forget to keep themselves hydrated – they are so busy thinking of other things and running around that it just doesn’t occur to them. Make sure you offer them water at regular intervals to help them stay healthy. 

You can give them water to drink, but that doesn’t mean they will enjoy it. To make it a little tastier, why not infuse some berries in it or find a fun cup for them to drink from? Crucially, children need to see you drinking water rather than soda, for example, as it will be easier for them to follow your lead. 

Outside Play

Children need to play as it’s good for their mental and physical development, but although the indoor play is great and certainly has its place, try to encourage outside play where possible. If you have a yard, this will be easier, but if you don’t, try to find time to take your children to the local part two or three times a week so they can run around and let off steam. 

You might worry about allergies or sunburn when children are outside, but there are things you can do to prevent this from being an issue. Help Them Sleep Enough

Therefore, you must set a sensible bedtime for your children so they can sleep long enough. Think about when they need to get up and work backward, so they sleep for long enough. For children between six and 12 years old, for example, that should be for around nine to 12 hours.
