One of Those Mornings

“Make sure you’re completely ready to walk out the door by the time I get back downstairs!” I called as I was Heading upstairs to throw on the clothes I had laid out on the bed earlier.

It would take me two minutes, tops, to get back downstairs. But everyone was ready to leave for School except for one child, who Needed to find his second shoe. It shouldn’t be a problem. After all, clothes and socks were found and put on, lunches packed, all these end of the school year forms and fees were handled- we should have been good.

But before I could even get to the very top step, I heard a crash and a wail and yells that “it was an accident!” Seriously.

And I wanted to keep my calm but ohmygoodness, it’s not like I asked them to do anything difficult, I just needed two minutes so that I wasn’t dropping them off at school while still wearing the ducky boxer shorts I’d slept in the night before.

This was all after being told that part of a baseball uniform needed for afterschool was missing because I’d put it somewhere.

With a husband out of town, even though he would have been too busy with work and soccer play-offs and soccer tryouts to be helpful anyway, my patience is worn thin.

All I could think was that it needed to be the weekend or maybe even Summer because I’m ever so tired of the chaos.

Summer chaos, I can handle. Can’t find what you need in time? Oh well, guess we’re staying home instead of heading out to the beach or the pool. It’s amazing how they don’t lose what they need on those days.

Summer means we don’t have three different activities we need to get to in the evening like we do tonight, when we can’t possibly do them all because while I’ve figured out when to ask for help when I need it, I still can’t clone my children(which is a good thing anyway).

Twelve more days until summer break. I’m so ready, y’all.
