More Yessie Moments with Capri Sun

Kraft-Heinz sponsored this post, but the opinions are my own.

During the summer, it’s easy to say YES to so much. We’re on break so there is a lot of free time. We have so much fun as a family.

But then once the school year starts, I feel like all I say is NO.

No, we don’t have time for that.

No, because you have school tomorrow.

No, because you have soccer/cross country/swim team/baseball.

No, that’s not safe.

No, that’s not good for you.

When I’m saying no because it’s what’s best for my kids- what keeps them safe or has them honoring their obligations, I don’t feel bad about it. Same goes for if they’re already doing something they want to do anyway, like a practice or game.

But sometimes, I end up saying no simply because it’s easiest for me. Say no to avoid a mess or simply because I’m tired.

Though saying no can get old. Can’t I say yes to some things, just because?

That’s what I decided to do last weekend: to say yes to as many things as I could and capture it with a #Yessie (so much better than a selfie!).

I asked my boys what they wanted to do, letting them know that we could do whatever they wanted. I braced myself for some big asks, things that would require a far drive or lots of effort on my part and maybe quite a bit of money spent.

But they surprised me. The things they most wanted to do were easy things we could do as a family, like get out our board games and card games and play together. We played So. Many. Games.

They wanted to go fishing in our backyard, with the poles we already have.

Eating dinner out on the deck was something they all agreed on. I realized this is something we don’t do often enough, even though it doesn’t take any more effort than eating at the kitchen table.

And they wanted to finish our weekend by watching a movie together.

All easy things to say “yes” to and it felt so good to say yes.

During our busy school days, we can’t always have days like this past weekend. But I can still find time to say yes to some things.

Maybe it’s yes to playing outside before doing homework. Or eating dinner out on the deck. Or allowing them to have a fun fruity drink, which isn’t something we do often. But now that Capri Sun has 35% less sugar than leading regular juice drinks, no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, it’s another easy YES.

I pick up Capri Sun Fruit Punch when I do my grocery shopping at Walmart. Saying yes to a drink that makes both the kids and me happy is one way to keep on having those #Yessie moments, even during those busy days. Find Capri Sun in store or online here.

What is something you’re going to say YES to this week?
