Nostalgic Gift Ideas for Children of the 80’s

Nostalgic Gift Ideas are on my mind this holiday season! I think giving someone a flashback to the things they loved in their childhood is such a great way to put a smile on their face.

I was born in 1981, so I am just loving all of this 80’s stuff that is coming back in style right now. Everywhere I look, there are things that remind me of my childhood. The Goldbergs (an 80’s version of The Wonder Years) has quickly become one of my favorite TV shows, and I can’t believe that I’m buying my daughter My Little Pony stuff, and my son was a Ninja Turtle for Halloween. It’s so crazy to see stuff from your childhood become popular again 30 years later.

While I love buying stuff for my kids, I secretly have my eye on a few 80’s things for myself, and my husband, who was born in 83. We both grew up playing Nintendo, wearing the crazy clothes, and watching all of those fabulous 80’s movies. If you are buying gifts for a child of the 80’s this holiday season, check out these Nostalgic Gift ideas they are sure to love! This post contains affiliate links and I will receive compensation if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I can’t even tell you how many hours I spent playing Tetris as a kid. It was always so much fun trying to quickly fit those pieces together. I kind of miss how simple games used to be. This Tetris Stackable LED Desk Lamp is so cool, don’t you think?! It has seven different pieces that you can stack together however you want. The LED light stays on when the pieces are stacked together, and stays off when it’s disassembled.

It was so cool to have a boombox back in the 80’s. Thank goodness music technology has advanced as much as it did. I can’t imagine having to carry around one of those big things to listen to music these days. I would, however, carry around a cute boombox messenger bag like this one. Isn’t it totally adorable? It’s perfect for commuters, music lovers and anyone nostalgic for the 80’s.

I think every child of the 80’s logged hours and hours of time playing Super Mario Bros. games on Nintendo, and this Super Mario Bros Classic Monopoly game is such an awesome throwback. In this Collector’s Edition board game, you can play as 8-bit Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Super Mushroom, or 1-Up Mushroom, and try to conquer the kingdom before your opponent can. 8-bit goal posts and castles replace the classic houses and hotels, and there are tons of other references to the classic Mario Bros throughout the game.

You can sip coffee from one of these awesome Super Mario Bros. Heat Change Mugs while you play Super Mario Bros. Monopoly! When the mug is cold it features a dark, nighttime landscape, and when hot is a vibrant colorful level teeming with classic Mario Bros. enemies.

I wasn’t really into Zelda growing up, but my cousin, who was born 3 days after me, was totally obsessed with it. I just know he would freak out over this Legend of Zelda Leather Watch. I really love the style of this watch. It’s sophisticated enough for a grown-up to wear, but it’s also very nostalgic and a great reminder of simple childhood days.

These beautiful stained glass Zelda pint glasses are another great throwback to Zelda. Pint glasses have always been a popular gift with my friends and family, and I know a lot of people who would absolutely love these. These feature Link from the Wind Waker, and I think they are just gorgeous!

My cousin is also a huge fan of Mega Man. He is such a big fan, in fact, that he has an 8-bit Mega Man tattoo on his arm. I am willing to bet he would love these Mega Man mugs that feature 8-bit and classic versions of Mega Man characters. They are 16oz. mugs, so they hold plenty of coffee, and I think they are really reasonably priced too!

If you’re looking for nostalgic gift ideas for girls of the 80’s, you simply cannot go wrong with a Caboodle. I am so impressed that they are still making these things. I still remember what my caboodle looked like. It was the prettiest light blue color, and I absolutely loved it. I wish I still had it. I’d totally love to get another one.

Every child of the 80’s loved Back to the Future, and this Flux Capacitor USB Car Charger is such a cool gift idea. It is compatible with anything that charges via USB, and can charge two devices simultaneously.

Finally, the gift every child of the 80’s wants this Christmas, is the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these, and teach my kids how to play some of my favorite classic Nintendo games! I think this is my favorite of the nostalgic gift ideas in this post, and you really can’t beat the price. It’s a very hot ticket item this year, so if it’s sold out, keep checking back to see if it has been restocked!

While you’re waiting for the NES Classic Edition to come back in stock, check out this cool Classic NES Controller Premium Journal! This journal features a 3-dimensional NES controller front and back cover, with all details of the NES-004 controller, including raised buttons you can put your hands on while gathering your thoughts.

Are you a child of the 80’s? Which of these nostalgic gift ideas do you love the most?
