Time to Shed the Weight...

Yes here it is... another blog from another person who blogs about trying to lose weight!

My dear Adam took a photo of me the other day and I have to say I was quite appalled at what I saw. The myth of the camera adding five pounds is ridiculous - it is what it is... there in black and white... a big bottom; a big tummy and the start of a double chin.

To most of you weighing in at 64 kilograms doesn't sound like much; but when my post Baby weight after having Miss Mikaylah six years ago was a healthy 52kgs for a 157cm tall woman; this 64kgs is a lot for my body frame to carry!

My standard excuse of, "I just had a baby!" isn't going to cut it any more and considering I am carrying around a 26 month old child; the 'just had a baby' excuse looks and sounds odd - not to mention ridiculous!

I have tried practically every diet under the sun... from no carbs to Atkins; from Weight Watchers to Celebrity Slim. I do really well for a week and then along comes the weekend and Friday Morning grocery shopping!  Why is it that every time I go on a diet, my favourite Cadbury Hazelnut chocolate is on sale???

This time will be different. I need to get my weight back down to at least 55kgs. I need to lose the layers of fat which have somehow made their way to my backside and tummy! I am nearly forty and the time is now to get myself healthy again!

The hardest part for me is the exercise! I have gone from Training seven days a week to nothing - nada!!
Turning back the clock for you, I Trained in the martial art of Taekwon-Do for many years starting as a white Belt to second dan black belt. I was due for my third dan just after giving birth to Little Man Chase... without giving you all the boring details... I hung up my uniform and belt and haven't trained since. When you go from training seven days a week to doing absolutely nothing, your body isn't as forgiving as it used to be!

I have had a Treadmill for twelve months and a gym set for around seven months. Both have sat idly; sending waves of guilt through me each and every time I walk past them! I think the treadmill had a bit of a shock this morning when it was turned on for the first time in months!!

So here is my plan of attack...

Weighing in each Monday morning - today was 64kgs.
Cutting back on the millions of cups of tea I have each day (each with two sugars!)
No more bowls of chips at night.
No more sneaking in little Easter eggs when all is quiet in the house.
Changing my dinner plate to a side plate to balance out my portion control.
Drink at least one litre of water a day
One hour on the treadmill every day (broken up into two half hour slots).
Two mornings a week work on the gym (in attempt to fix my flabby arms!)

My downfall each and every day is when the house is Quiet and no one can see me eating. I need my sugar fix; I need something! I feel like an addict trying to sneak in a little something before bed!

Well, no more... it is now I need to gather all the will I have to get myself into shape!

Wish me luck... will let you know how I'm going!!

Love
Melissa
