October spins in.

We usually have a little fall celebration on the eve of October 1st, but had to delay it this year by a couple days. I have had some gnarly vertigo. Ugh. If you have had it, you know. It has been a week of it and I finally was feeling good enough to cook yesterday. I spent the morning resting and watching fun spooky movies that I knew everyone would veto due to overuse…..The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and the Canterville Ghost. Seriously the cutest Halloween movies ever and great childhood memories for me. We were finally able to do our dinner on October 2nd. This is one of my favorite days of the year. I don’t know why, but it just is. It’s a great time to get everyone together and just be us. For dinner we had my friend Leah’s spicy tortilla soup with blue corn chips and little spice and French vanilla ghost cakes with buttercream frosting. We hadn’t decided on a Movie beforehand, so after a couple of false starts and a protest by yours truly on one of the movies (mom is a wet blanket), we finally settled on Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp. With candles flickering and pumpkins glowing, we piled on the couch to enjoy the movie. Happy October babies!!
