2018 was a wierd year for us.  Some good, some really bad, and even though the hurricane was over, the effects of it lived on all through the year. It just felt weird here post storm.  Many people left.  Businesses had no choice but to close and move on. Homes were still badly damaged as their owners waited for TWIA to pay out.  Tents lined the Beach all through the spring, and there were tent villages in town with families living in it. It was depressing. And add to that some medical problems with 2 of my sons in the Fall, and well, I was in a bad funk. We are forever grateful for the hand that hovered over this house and shielded it from the storm. A tornado came from the forest behind our home, hit the backyard and literally skimmed through the side yard and out the front, taking all the trees and fence with it but sparing the house for the most part. We had a home to come back to, while others did not.  Dilemma of happy for us and sad for so many around us. Once Mia was home, things finally started to feel more stable….less disjointed. It would really be hard to post about the details of 2018 because there were so so many, so I think I just need to post some highlights of the year by month divided into a few posts. Lots of the deeper stories are there, just for my family. JANUARY Went to see my mom and siblings.  She will be 90 in Fall of 2-19.  I am lucky to still have her with me. Cozy fires with friends. The Little Bity House rides again!!  After months at the repair shop, all was fixed and ready for a weekend of surfing. Blind wooies like carrot juice even if they can’t see it and don’t know what it is. But hey!  Mom likes it so so does Honey! Moonrise surf sessions. FEBRUARY Basketball!  Basketball! And more basketball!  Of all the sports my son has played, I love watching him on the court the most. They made the playoffs, and for the first time in over 20 years were Area Champions. Surf contests and surf friends! More juicing! Beach time and apperitifs with friends. And this was the month we became couch potatoes watching Netflix and eating popcorn.  I would look forward to it all day to curl up with Bill while he cruises through Apple TV looking for movies.  February is our coldest month and is good for coziness. MARCH Spring cleaning. (AKA dog hair removal) Porch beers with Bill. Sunset firepit with the kids, wine and a good book. Weekend trailer trips to the beach. Backing in like a boss. Long walks discovering stuff.     And a birthday for the baby. APRIL The nighty routine. Spring has sprung. #3 goes to Prom. Invisaligns for the baby. Triathlon training again. Homemade bread and chickpea soup. Everyones home! Hotel pizza and flying out to a contest in California. New niece for the Muffin Man (Cory). to be continued…..
