In what could be considered next-level perseverance, a 3-year-old boy found himself trapped inside a Hello Kitty claw Machine at an Australian shopping center.
Dubbed “Ethan and the Police: 1 Claw Machine: 0,” this adorable escapade caught everyone’s attention. Ethan managed to crawl up into the prize dispenser of the machine, leaving his parents and police officers scrambling for a solution.
As seen in the video, Ethan sat calmly amidst the Hello Kitty toys while discussions unfolded on how to retrieve him safely. The officers discovered that the machine was made of glass, raising concerns about shattering it without harming Ethan.

With quick thinking and teamwork, they devised a plan. Ethan’s father guided him to his mother on the other side of the machine while telling him to cover his eyes. A police officer then shattered one side of the glass window with precision.
The moment of truth arrived as Ethan turned around and saw his path to freedom. Crawling towards his father who scooped him up protectively, Ethan emerged unscathed from his unexpected adventure.
Amidst laughter and relief, Ethan’s dad jokingly asked him to choose a prize from the machine. It turns out he has quite the knack for claw machines!
Reflecting on their son’s impromptu escapade, Timothy Hopper shared how Ethan’s curiosity led him into this situation within seconds. “He stood up and realized what happened and he was king of the mountain,” he explained.
Fortunately, after approximately 10 to 15 minutes inside that glass enclosure, Ethan was safely back in his parents’ arms.
The story struck a chord with Senior Constable Stuart Power, who empathized as a father himself. “Kids are kids,” he mused. “My boy’s 4 and I’m surprised he hasn’t done similar.”
This isn’t the first time a child has crawled into one of these machines. Maybe it’s time the manufacturer looks into how this can happen and redesigns the machine.
