One Key To Success At Amusement Parks, Travel With Another Family! (#LifeHack)

Tis the season to visit amusement parks. If you loathe visiting amusement parks and only go under protest because your kids enjoy them, or if you like them but get bored because you're basically a glorified escort to your kids, here is a post to help you do the following:

  • Increase your enjoyment with the park by giving your kids people to play with and ride with.
  • Boost your happiness and reduce your stress with being at an amusement park.
  • Improve your sense of well-being by making your trip feel more like a vacation and less like a chore

My family with The Chatty Momma and her family

That's me and my family in the photo above with dear family friends at Hershey Park a few years ago. We had such a great time! (The kids were SO young!) I lost this post for awhile. But thought I'd post anyway.

According to its website, Hershey Park describes itself as follows: "Hershey Park is a family theme park in the eastern United States in Hershey, Pennsylvania, about fifteen miles east of Harrisburg, and 95 miles west of Philadelphia. The park was founded in 1906, by Milton S. Hershey as a leisure park for the employees of the Hershey Chocolate Company." That's the official message. The unofficial message is this, Hershey Park is AWESOME!

As a working mom, I value my weekends and use them to reconnect with my family. The challenge is, sometimes I lack the energy to entertain all three kids. Often, I rely on Andre. However, he gets exhausted too. Well recently, I discovered that the answer to exhausted parent’s prayers—traveling with another family.

We had the pleasure of visiting Hershey Park with the Sanders family. The Sanders have become dear friends of ours. We met them at Disney Social Media Moms Celebration a couple of years ago and loved them right from the start. They are so friendly and down to earth that it's impossible not to like them. Also, our kids just got along! The first year we met them, our daughters were dancing with to the band on the beach. And the second year, I swear our son fell completely in love with their youngest daughter. All he wanted to do was hang out with her on the cruise. So, when they invited us to visit them in Virginia last summer, we had to say yes!

It looks like our summer visits have become an annual event because when they were traveling to Hershey Park so that Tonia, The Chatty Momma, could help the Park with its social media that weekend, they invited us and we were honored to tag along. At the time, Tonia was a Sweetest Moms Ambassador for Hershey Park, which means that it was (and is) SUPER sweet to be her friend!

If you haven't been to Hershey Park, I highly recommend it. We had a great time. We stayed at the Hershey Hotel, which is worth a visit even if you skip the park. From the moment you arrive in Hershey, you smell chocolate. Even if you are not a choco-holic, I am not, I found that smelling chocolate in the air makes everything better--tantrums, arguments with your spouse, fatigue--EVERYTHING!!!

So, if your family could use a boost, visit Hershey Park and take another family!
