Mother and son at Kennywood on Carousel |
Sometimes I forget how expensive life is. It's not because I have a sponsor or have a lot of Money. It is because, I tend to minimize my expenses. In the Summer, for example, I spent most of my weekends at my parents' pool. It is a luxury for which my parents don't charge. Since my kids love to swim, it is a win/win. Our expenses for enjoying the pool usually involves the cost of lunch. And since we gotta eat anyway, it's a wash.
Life changed recently though. Two weekends last month I wound up paying for my kids to go to the local amusement park two weekends in a row. The tickets alone set me back nearly $500.
$500. is. a. lot. of. money, especially during these inflationary times!

While my kids had a thoroughly wonderful time, paying for that kind of entertainment on a consistent basis, would be excessive. Indeed, paying for that kind of entertainment every weekend, would nearly equal the cost of private school. That would make, summer, far more expensive, than the school year because they are also attending camp.
Now, that I see the light, I am about finding free and low cost ways to entertain my children for the rest of the summer. Because, we do have a couple of trips planned, and I just recognize that if I am paying then going rate for this entertainment, it is going to be like and ignored and exorbitant expense. Below you will so in my quest to find such things, I came across the entertainment options listed below. Please enjoy and partake of them as you see fit, and you can thank me later.
