Baby Feeding: What Should I Do?

Are you having a hard time budgeting infant formula? Had those times when you spoiled half of the can?

Don’t worry, you are not alone. Appropriate planning of infant formula consumption is one of the common concerns of first-time mums like you.

Take note of this. Your baby’s nutrition can not be only based on the kind of milk he takes in but how well you prepared it.

In buying a pack/can of milk powder, you must check first the expiration date. Make sure that you have enough time to use the formula if this would be a supplement to breast-feeding.

Evaluate your baby’s feeding habit. You may also try buying smaller packs than that of canned Dumex Dugro milk powder to save formula from spoiling.

Keep formula cool but not frozen. It could be tempting, but please, don’t. Heat and cold temperature can degrade nutrients in the formula. Optimum storage temperature is between 55 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t leave packs of infant formula under direct sunlight.

To avoid left-over milk, make sure to feed your baby the right amount and in the right time.
  • Babies up to 2 months old: About 2 to 4 ounces at each feeding. Feeding is every 3 to 4 hours.
  • Babies 2 to 6 months old: 4 to 6 ounces at each feeding.
  • Babies 6 to 12 months old: 3 to 5 bottles every day. About 8 ounces each feeding.
Follow the package instructions. Use the correct amount of formula and water. Remember, if the water is not enough—it may cause constipation to your baby. If the water is too much, he will not get enough calories.

You may also check on the right bottle size for your baby. Smaller ones are easier to use for babies under 4 to 6 months.
