The busy people

They say if you want something done, ask a Busy person. This my friends is the motto of mine and Nick’s life….we are the busy people they are talking about.

It never used to be this way. We used to sleep until noon then lay on the couch until it was time to get ready for the bar again. Since we got engaged it’s been a whirlwind of things to keep us busy from houses to kids to renovating and the usual of work and other obligations. I think we got used to it, craved the chaos maybe? Either way, neither of us sit for too long (I can definitely sit longer than Nick though) We are always looking for something to do, Nick is always fixing something, building something or rearranging his shop. I on the other hand tend to be a planner, anything I can do from my phone I’m in! I have a couple of pages on Facebook of my own that I run but also help my dad’s business (Rick’s Auto Repair) and my Friends business (Fringe Academy) I do it because I like it, it’s fun for me…is that weird? I love planning and creating!

I recently ventured into the world of creativity. This world is quite foreign to me, if you’ll remember it is much more my Mom’s domain and always a gene I claimed not to have. Nick and I started a little woodworking business I lovingly named Stars and Pipes….because we make wooden stars and I like Nick’s pipes hahaha so clever! It all started with him making me one to go on my new accent wall in our bedroom, I was obsessed and needed to share!

Even more recently I had a crazy idea that I wanted to make little clay jewelry dishes. I did research, I ordered all the necessary items from Amazon and in 1-2 business days (Amazon Prime is life!) I started to play around with my clay. I loved it! it was soothing to me and I felt like I had a knack for it…like I had finally found something I loved to doing and was good at! (toot, toot) I decided to see if anyone else thought the same and made a small business out of it LeeLeigh Design was born. A mesh of my first name and middle name (which I denied most my life by the way) I love it, I feel so creative and happy creating new things, I’ve found a new appreciation for Michael’s, the craft store. I used to huff and puff when I was with mom and we had to go there….I’m obsessed now…even made a special trip because I had a 50% off coupon!

I guess the moral of the story is…It’s never too late to find something you love to do. There is a certain vulnerability about creativity that makes you pour your heart into a project. It’s scary but worth it!

Also, just because you have 4 kids, 2 dogs, workout 3 days a week, a never-ending to do list and may have signed up for online courses recently annnd have to go back to your full time job in July…doesn’t mean you can’t add a little extra to your plate if it makes you happy!

Shamless plug to my labours of love, Check them out!
