Mindful MOMents

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding things in life but also the most difficult. There will be times our kids will go to great lengths to test our patience. Any signs of general disrespect such as tantrums, talking back etc will natuallly trigger an angry response from even the calmest parents.

There have been times where I let these situations take over me, totally taking me away from enjoying motherhood for the day. I would catch myself getting angry easily and I knew this wasn’t healthy. I wanted to be happy, calm and easy going. So one of my new years resolutions is to be a more Mindful mom.

We live in a day and age where we must over schedule our lives. Over doing it will lead to burn out, which can cause you to lose your temper easily. The best thing to do when you catch yourself burning inside is to take a personal time out. Meditate. Just close your eyes and breathe. Relax your body. Quiet the mind.

After just a few sessions of Meditation, my mind and body instantly felt lighter and I had more positive energy to go about the day! I can’t believe how powerful meditation is. I am even more aware of my emotions and I catch myself before reacting, turning the situation into one where my kids and I support, learn and grow together. I meditate 3x a day for 5-15 mins each. Since making meditation a part of my routine, I feel more energetic, grateful, mindful and relaxed. Things have been great

Here are a few tools that got me started:

  • Oil infuser
  • Mala
  • Sage
  • Crystals
  • Gratitude journal
  • A meditation blanket
  • Meditation tea
  • Vision board full of positive affirmations and personal goals

One evening, I even got my kids involved and it was such an amazing experience that we shared!

Try it
