Monday Blahday!

Tags: star celeb phone

Today is a Monday... one kid back to school after break (13 year old) , the other, still home till tomorrow,

I had to beg and plea for him to join me for breakfast, and once he did, he enjoyed this old mom's company (at least, it seemed like he did). I consider it good communication if he at least read me stuff that he found on his found while holding it at the table. Now, he's back to GTA. We will see him in about 4 hours!!!

Speaking of cell phones, am I the ONLY parent of a 13 year old that does not allow their 13 year to have a cell phone? I was told I am (by said 13 year old)!!!

A little about me. I recently was laid off... eek, the horror??!!! Well, not really, The job was quite frustrating and I wasn't at all happy. So, what;s a laid off 50 year old Mom who still needs to pay tuition for her younger son's school to do? Switch careers. I have always wanted to pursue the travel careers, and I researched some tourism and travel degrees that you can earn online., I found a reputable one, and the hubby was supportive, so I said, "Why not?" More updates as the studies continue, I just started after New Years, and do about 3 hours a day.

It seems 2017 is the New Year for New Things... new career hopefully, new school for my senior when he goes to college int he fall, and new weight for me (hoping, praying, crossing all fingers, toes, and bra straps). I joined Weight Watchers for what should be the 10th time of my life. Three of those ten, I was diligent and lost weight (pre kids). The other 7, not so much, But WW is awesome, because you can eat what you want, how you want, in moderation If there is one thing I do not like, it is feeling deprived. If you tell me I can;t have it, by gosh I will find a way to get it! I'm on day 3 of this 10th try at it... I went full bore on the first day, made my own lunches which I froze, and made homemade WW fries. Then, last night, not sure what my body told me, but I couldn't stop snacking... all night long. Sigh!!! My goal is a 30 lb weight loss... however and whatever it takes to get that done., My gym membership is still going, but I am not! So, I will revisit the gym thing, and plan on 2 to 3 days a week. Putting it here in writing... need to hold myself accountable!!! I'm done with the excuse that a 50 year old menopausal woman can;t lose weight! It will happen for me!

Who watched the Golden Globes last night and who had seen any of those movies nominated. I watched, had no idea what any of the movies were (although now know from seeing the nomination trailers there are a few that look good). I mainly watch for the fashions... who looks incredible, who looks like they were steered the wrong way by a bitter stylist.... I am kinda a "celeb whore"... admittedly, I would be one of those women who snaps a discreet photo (you know, holding the phone at an angle making ti look like I am taking a selfie, but making sure I got the star instead_)...LOL. of a celeb if I saw one in the store, or in a restaurant.

When I went to college in LA (Go Lions... Loyola Marymount University), I would be the one who would convince my friends to hang out in Beverly Hills or Hollywood so we could celeb watch. My claim to fame... my car back then was in an episode of Hunter!!! Yeah, that definitely dates ,me. And, I got to hold Mr. T's arm as I helped tour the A Team stars around LMU when they were filming an episode there. Anyone jealous yet? :)

I once wrote a letter to the cast of Dallas when I was 11 and they sent me an autographed cast photo back. Oh, and I bumped into Anna Nicole Smith (RIP) at Knotts Berry Farm. And that is all the exciting star sightings I can attest to.

So getting back to the GG Awards, I really love Meryl Streep. She is classy and articulate and speaks her mind,. I hated many of the "plunging " necklines. Most women who can;t rock it wore it. The fashion tape companies made a mint this year. My husband and kids just roll their eyes at me when these awards show come on. You;d think I was on Entertainment doing the live broadcast with all my commentary. I just don't understand though. I have gone into Neiman Marcus multiple times over the years. Ont he 3rd floor at the one in San Francisco, they have fashion gowns that run in the thousands. And I always dream what it would be like to pick the perfect gown. There are beautiful gowns, and then I see these stars trot across the red carpet in crazy looking designs. It floors me. I could go on and on, but I'll stop for now. More awards shows to come... more extensive commentary from me.

Anyway, my motto going forward will be Meryl Streep's parting words... Take Your Broken Heart and Mend It Into Art!
