According to a brand new study from Truity, a company that specializes in Personality assessments, we can learn how our personality types affect our roles as parents. Particularly in the Indian context why is it that our country has the largest number of educated moms who are staying from home?

This new study that links personality type to parenting styles seems to have yielded some interesting results. The tool being used is the famous Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), (which has its critics) but resonates very well with most others.

In a nutshell, there are four types of personalities and the majority of us favor one side for each one. Here are the four:

1. How one uses and saves personal energy - Extroversion (E) vs. Introversion (I)

2. How one gathers and processes information- Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N)

3. How one prioritizes personal values - Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F)

4. How one organizes and structures daily life and work - Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P)

Now with these parameters 16 possible personality types emerge. With this information scientists are finding definite co-relations between personality type and parenting styles

It’s important to remember that each personality type has its own unique parenting strengths. Yes, we all have our weaknesses as parents, too, but it’s worthwhile to note that our flaws can also be our strengths. In the sense it equips us with a certain exclusive trait to raise our children in our unique way. That’s why no two parenting styles are alike!

5 types most likely to be SAHMs

1. Introversion:Intuition:Feeling: Perceiving

Mums whose personality is largely based on these feelings are 29.8% more likely to become stay at home mommies.

2. Introversion: Intuition: Thinking : Perceiving

This group comes a close second racking up 28.1% chances of preferring to be sahms.

3. Extroversion : Sensing : Feeling : Perceiving

Surprisingly enough even this personality type is 27.8% more likely to stay at home.

4. Introversion: Sensing: Feeling : Perceiving

This group is 26.9% likely.

5. Interversion : Sensing : Feeling : Judging

Least likely to want to stay at home, this group ranks last at 23.7%.

With 17.8%, women with these traits will loathe staying at home!

This group come second with 16.9% women least likely to want to be stay at home mums.

3. Introversion : Intuition : Thinking : Judging

This group falls in between with 15% women who don’t want to be sahms.
