Roamin’ in the Wilds: What is in Philippines

The Philippines is located in southeast Asia and consists of a little over 7,600 islands. 19 or so languages are spoken. It is definitely rich in culture and folklore. Whether these creatures are real or not, it is a fascinating place to explore. Make up your own mind as you read through these descriptions and as always enjoy yourself.

Timu-Timu – This is an apelike creature that is said to live deep in the forests. It’s mouth is described as wide enough to swallow a human whole. (sounds like you wouldn’t have a chance)

Mameleu – Sea Serpent with the head the size of a water buffalo. A big body to hold up that head. (hopefully to you, it doesn’t move very fast)

Alan – A race of half human/half avian creatures that have elongated fingers and feet that are turned backwards (feet being backwards comes up alot with different descriptions of these creatures. makes you wonder.) They are said to procreate by collecting menstrual blood, afterbirth, and aborted fetuses. They then form children with the collected things. (not hungry anymore?)

Kulariut – A creature with big eyes, black fur and a white beard. It is said to be harmless as it goes about it day in the bamboo groves or in the forest. a creepy thing about it is that if a house is nearby, it will watch the occupants sleep.

Pongo – An ape-like creature that resembles an orangutan. It is said to be twice as large as a gorilla and faster than an orangutan. (this is probably the one I wouldn’t want to come face to face with)

Mantahungal – A creature with a cowlike body, with shaggy hair, huge mouth with two pair of tusklike teeth.

Amomongo – This is a hairy, long nailed, man size ape that terrorizes villagers. (an angry Bigfoot maybe?)

Manangilaw or Manangilaw – Giant hairy humanoids that live in the mountains and caves. They have bigfeet (hmm definitely a Sasquatch or Bigfoot I must say) They have black hair, deep voices and mean looking faces. They are said to be harmless. (that is something I wouldn’t want to be the first to find out)

Aswang – This is a shapeshifting creature, usually with traits of a witch, ghoul or vampire. It stalks it’s pretty at night (better time to eat you as they say) looking for human flesh and blood. By day, it looks just like a regular person. You have to really watch out for them.

So these creatures could exist, did exist, or just stories to scare children with. It you have ever been to the Philippines, drop us a message about your time there and if you saw anything weird.

Take care everyone.
