Black Mountain Bigfoot

Black Mountain Bigfoot

Black Mountain is the highest mountain peak in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It stands a whopping  4,145 feet above mean sea level and has a top-to-bottom height of over 2,500 feet. The massive mountain towers above the towns of Lynch, Kentucky, and Appalachia, Virginia.

There is also a Federal Aviation Administration radar dome on the Mountain. There are also multiple radio towers along with transmitter buildings around the summit

Much of the mountain is unoccupied, very isolated, and very mysterious. There have been many reports from this area of everything from UFOs to Ghosts to Black Panthers and yes, to Bigfoot.

Here is a report that was recently submitted via email.
-Start Report-

Nikki Writes: "In 2017 a friend and I decided to ride to the top of Black Mountain and then out to the "Golf Ball" (I think it's some sort of weather satellite).

Actual image of the Radar Dome.

It was late, around 2am. We were sitting in the car with the windows down just talking about high school days when we came to a pause in our conversation. It was eerily quiet outside. I was just about to address how quiet it was when the silence was broken by a loud knock then another and another. It sounded like the loud crack of a wooden bat when the ball is hit out of the park. Then it happened again, knock, knock, knock. Then the regular night sounds returned, crickets, owls, etc.

After about 10 minutes of going back and forth about what could have made that sound my friend opened their car door and was going to step out and "stretch their legs " lol when they jumped back in the car and slammed the door. "Bear! There's a bear out there!" I quickly started the engine and rolled up the windows before turning to look out the back window.

About 20 yards from the bumper I saw what I assumed was the bear standing on its hind legs, behind a tree, with its paws on the tree. Then it dropped down and disappeared into the darkness. I should clarify that it was a clear night with a full moon.

About an hour later we were about to leave when we noticed headlights coming up the one-lane, gravel road that leads to the area. When the headlights got to the part of the road that turns into where we were sitting, they disappeared. We watched and waited.
There was nothing. No vehicle, no lights, nothing.
That's when we decided it was time to go.

I never believed in Bigfoot before that night. I knew about the tree knocks from watching episodes of Finding Bigfoot. I never thought I would ever hear them in person. Now I am a true believer and have been watching and listening to the woods ever since. I've gathered quite a bit of photo evidence and even saw a couple foot impressions."

-End Report-

Thanks to Nikki for sharing this experience with all of us. While they first call this a bear, we know that bears do not make wood knocks. Wood knocks are a suspected behavior of Bigfoot.

I would now like to add another little story to this report. I don't think I have ever posted it online but have told a few people about it.  As some of you know I was a wildland firefighter for a while. We would be dispatched to remote areas to fight forest fires. One night we got dispatched to Black Mountain and had to go right past this radar dome mentioned in Nikki's report.

We had our normal Crew and on this fire, they brought in a small Bulldozer. Once we got the fire basically under control, the crew leaders wanted to make a nice clean pathway down the mountain with the bulldozer. By this time it was around midnite or later and instead of walking all the back to the trucks, I and another crew member followed behind the bulldozer down the mountain.

The bulldozer got pretty far ahead of us and we were basically just walking the path it cut using our little battery-operated headlamps. The lights didn't shine far but it was good enough to get out of the mountain. The other person with me was originally from Chicago if I remember correctly. Well, we started hearing something off to our right following us down the mountain. It was making sounds in the brush and leaves as it walked. It really didn't concern me very much as I thought it could just be a deer or even a raccoon. But the guy with me got really spooked. He started picking up some good size rocks, about the size of a small plate, from where the bulldozer had cut the path down the mountain. He would take the rocks and sling them in the direction of when sounds of whatever was following us. I told him not to worry about it, that it was probably just a deer or something. I did this to try and settle him down. He threw a few more rocks and he picked up his pace down the mountain. He probably got a good 15 yards ahead of me.

As we continued to walk down the mountain, whatever was following us kept following us. I kind of figured it was a bigfoot as the rock-throwing didn't scare it away. Once we got about halfway down the mountain the thing following us stopped. Once we got back to the trucks, the two of us talked a little about the event but I never told him what I thought it was, he was already freaked out.

Hope you enjoyed the post.

Thanks
