Oh Wait - There Are More Theories!

Although the Bigfoot-Giganto Theory is the most debated and seems to be the most popular, there are other theories out there to which believers subscribe.

Another theory is the Paranthropus Theory which is similar to the Bigfoot-Giganto Theory.  It states the bigfoot is a descendant of Paranthropus which is a genus of bipedal apes. These apes are said to have evolved in Africa from the Australopithecines. The Australopithecines are the same ancestors that humans are believed to have come from. This theory ties human's past closer to bigfoot's and takes in the bipedal aspect and the similar foot development.

Well, one problem with Bigfoot-Giganto Theory solved, but let's look closer at this alternate theory.

This theory is said to originate with Loren Coleman. (Briefly touched upon in the article on the Bigfoot-Giganto Theory). One problem with this theory is there is no evidence of Paranthropus living outside of Africa.

Also, they are believed to be have been smaller than a bigfoot, topping out at about four and a half feet high. It was a highly specialized ape, which probably lived on grubs and roots. This would have made the species likely unable to adapt to environmental changes.

Next there is the Neanderthal theory. Bigfoot is a surviving Neanderthal.

Or  possibly an "extinct" subspecies of Homo sapiens. This would make bigfoot closely related to modern humans, differing in DNA by only 1/3 of a percent.

Neanderthals were believed to have first appeared about 600,000 years ago. There was  some subsequent fossil evidence which put them still around as recently as 30,000 years ago.

And places them co-existing with humans with a chance of crossbreeding.

The Hollywood version of Neanderthal makes them look rather human. Reality bite: they may have looked closer to many descriptions of a modern bigfoot.

This theory has many followers. Biggest problem? Still doesn't solve the land bridge crossing and that of no evidence of ancestral Neanderthals in North America.

Then there is the Human Theory.

Bigfoot is actually from the human species. The theory runs that bigfoot is an offshoot of an early human lineage. It then migrated into North America, evolving into a larger size and developing very thick fur (hair) to deal with the cold. Therefore, it would be bipedal and have human-like feet. It would have other human characteristics including human-like breasts. Human breasts are evident as part of the normal build of the body. Apes only have breasts when they are nursing.

Reason not to accept this theory? Because some researchers feel that in order to prove their theories and provide evidence, they must kill one.

The Bigfoot episode of "In Search of......" presented the debate if someone should set out to kill a bigfoot in the name of science. One researcher stated that it would be immoral to kill one, because IF BIGFOOT IS PART OF THE HUMAN LINEAGE, it would have Constitutional Rights in the United States, and that killing one would be HOMICIDE.

That would be some debate in the U.S. Supreme Court. I would hope they would televise that session.
And now we have some final theories that some label "Weird".

The Alien Theory.

There are several versions of this theory that are more than there is time and space (no pun intended) to cover in this article. They range from the Native American tale of the star manned by human looking beings that came down and dropped off the hairy men, progressing all the way to possible Alien invasion by the bigfoot.

The Multidimension Creature.

This includes the Native American Spirit theory and possibly the Invisibility/cloaking theory.

And then there is the Time Travelers theory.

First there must be a time machine or device.

If someone who reads this endorses any of the theories, especially the final three, please feel free to comment and add your views. I'm willing to read them.

Thanks for theorizing with me.
