Education management Information System, abbreviated, as Emis is an integrated technology framework that automates the entire end-to-end management of education and its related information. The primary objective of an EMIS is to collect and analyze relevant information for better decision-making.

Certain countries have provided publicly available data on education relating to student attendance, student examination performance, teacher performance, improvement survey results, School Infrastructure and others. These information, when analysed, can provide immediate guidance for corrective measures. SchoolTime has all the necessary information automatically recorded that can be analysed by Institutions for data driven improvement strategies. SchoolTime is also working towards creating data models that will work on these raw data to arrive at meaningful interpretations. The definition of objectives, the choice of strategies and policy decisions should be based on data. Several countries have an education database based on school census or ad hoc surveys. However, the relevance and quality of data are yet to be improved in most cases.

Often, even in countries where EMISs are available, they are hardly used to guide education policies. This is partly a problem of presentation: the data are published in raw form in statistical yearbooks without any accompanying analysis. Policy and decision-makers and other planning managers need clear, easy to interpret comprehensible documents, accompanied by relevant analyses on which to base their policies.
