Important Services or Daemons in Linux System

When Linux system is booting we could see a lot of services are coming up with OK or failed. every one wonders what is the nature of program and what could be the importance of this services. once Linux system is getting booted.. it reads the file called /etc/inittab which is very important and this is an important file where the init progam reads this file and follows the instructions. The services which are configured and needs to be started will be available in /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory which has all the services or daemons. This services are simply Bash scripts and other important point is for new Linux users, this is an important place where all kinds of shell scripting is being used.
