The most simple solution to a file manager available in terminal under Ubuntu OS, is mc (midnight commander).
sudo apt-get install mc
It contains many features
1.Master renaming files,editing and copying
2.To view the rpm, deb files
3.Arrow keys control the selection
4.Function keys performs operations
5.It is mouse support
