STEPS FOR INSTALLATION

  1. CUSTOM RECOVERY METHOD

   STEPS
Requirements
  • Make sure your phone is fully charged! Update process will take some time.
  • Make sure there's enough free space at your internal SD card (400MB)
  • Make sure that you have A good internet connection for downloading the Rom 
  • Perform A full backup of your Rom before you continue 
Step 1 
Download the following files
  • Custom Rom CM12.1 HERE 
  • Or download from here
  • Download open Gapps signed.zip from here
  • Download USB drivers Samsung s USB drivers
  • Download TWRP_2.8.1.0 here OR CWM 6.0.4.9 here 
Step 2
I would highly recommend you to download the files on a PC to avoid corrupted file errors
  • Install USB drivers on your PC
  • Connect your device with the PC
  • Copy the downloaded files to a clean non-counterfeit SD card and paste in a easily accessible folder
  • switch the phone in recovery mode by
    • Start with Galaxy S  Plus powered off.
    • Press and hold Volume Up + Power button
    • Press and hold Power button.
    • Release the Power button
    • Wait for Recovery to start.(the re-loaded custom recovery)
STEP 3
  • Perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM that you can restore later if this new ROM not work or you want to go back into your previous ROM. To perform a backup, select Backup and Restore, then on the next screen, select Backup again. Go back to main recovery menu after backup is complete.
  • Now, perform data wiping task. To do so, select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm your action. Wait few minutes till the data wipe is complete.
  • Now come back to CWM recovery main menu. Select wipe cache partition and after wiping process done, select Wipe Dalvik Cache under advance option to perform Dalvik cache wiping.
  • Select install zip from SD card, then select choose zip from SD card (or /sdcard1 for external storage). Now, locate the CM12.1.Zip file that you copied earlier in Step 2 and select it by pressing Volume down button. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install CM12.1.zip on the next screen. The ROM installation will begin.
  • Once the ROM installation process end, repeat the step 4 (STEP 2) but choose the open gapps-signed.zip file instead of ROM zip to install the Google apps package.
  • When installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9001 and boot up into Android 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM CM12.1

2. TWRP RECOVERY METHOD

STEPS 
  • You must be running on TWRP 2.8.0.0 to enable you to flash the Rom
  • Follow the above instructions to get to Recovery
  • Create a Backup using TWRP Backup Option.(inside TWRP, Backup -> Select all the partitions -> Select Micro SD card as storage -> Swipe)
  • Reboot inside TWRP recovery again, because now you must be sure to use the new one (inside TWRP, Home -> Reboot -> Recovery)
  • Wipe Data as ext4 or f2fs partition (Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Select Data -> Repair or Change File System -> Change File System -> EXT4 or F2FS -> Swipe)
  • Now its time to add zip file for flashing. Tap on Install, then browse to the location where you saved the files and tap on the CM12.1 Zip file. Then tap on Add More Zips, and add open gapps--signed.zip. Now at the bottom of the screen, do a swipe on the Swipe to confirm flash option to begin flashing.
  • When installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and tap on Reboot and then, tap on System to reboot your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9001 and boot up into Android 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM CM12.1

    3.ODIN METHOD

We are Going to use Odin 3.07

 REQUIRED FILES

  •  Download Odin 3.07 from here
  • Official Samsung USB drivers
STEPS
  • Download ODIN 3.07 and extract it to your computer. Connect your phone to the computer using the Phone's data cable/Usb cable.
  • Turn the phone off for a minute, then restart the phone by pressing the "Home," "Power" and "Volume Down" buttons until the phone boots in download mode.
  • Open the ODIN program on the computer. Select "Auto Reboot." Click "PIT" and select your Android device from the list. Click "PDA" and choose the TAR file for the Android program on which you will be installing ODIN.
  • Click "Start" to add the ROM to your phone and wait while your phone reboots.

4.ADB METHOD





PREPARE YOUR DEVICE
  • Charge your device above 80% battery level to avoid shutdowns during the process.
  • Install proper device drivers on your PC and check if the device is detected. 
  • Enable USB Debugging on your phone from Settings> Developer options. If you do not find Developer option under device settings, read the instructions below
  • Tap your build number in Device info or about device 
  • A menu in the settings will appear ,You can Now enable USB debugging
  • On your computer, download the Minimal Fastboot/ADB tool and unzip it: from here here 
Install Flashable Zip Files using ADB Sideload
  1. Download and extract the ADB files on your PC.
  2. Open a command prompt in the ADB folder by right clicking on mouse in the empty space of the folder while holding the Shift key.
  3. Connect your device to your computer using an USB cable and reboot your device into Recovery mode. You can do this by following the above instructions
  4. In the recovery mode, enter the ADB Sideload menu which will be different for different custom recoveries.
  • For TWRP, you can find it in the Advanced  ADB Sideload
  • For CWM, you can find it in the Install  Install Zip from Sideload
  • Copy the CM11.Zip file you want to install on your device to the ADB folder.
  • Start the ADB sideload in your recovery. Now enter the following command in the command prompt.
  • adb sideload
    For instance:
    adb sideload sample.zip
    1. You will see a progress bar in the command prompt indicating that the Zip file is being copied to the device. Once the file is transferred, the Zip is automatically installed on your device.
    2. You can reboot your device once the Zip file is installed on your device.
