Diagnostic Insights for Performance Max Campaigns

Google has launched ‘diagnostic insights’ to help advertisers ensure their Performance Max campaigns are set up correctly. The diagnostic insights automatically identify issues that range from ad policy, billing, budget, bids, and more.

Diagnostic insights are available for Performance Max campaigns and will expand to other campaign types over the next few months.

Learning from the Global Search Central Virtual Unconference 2022

Google has shared some learnings from the Global Search Central Virtual Unconference 2022. Google facilitators took notes during their sessions and here are the conclusions:

Google Merchant Center’s Updated Inappropriate Content Policy

Google Merchant Center has updated its Inappropriate Content policy under the “Dangerous and Derogatory” section to enforce against the promotion of skin-lightening products that infer the superiority of one skin tone over another.

These products will be prohibited and disapproved under Google Merchant Center’s enforcement. Google suggests removing those products before July 2022 to avoid any account issues.

Google Search Console Insights Now Supports Google Analytics 4

Google has added support for sites using Google Analytics 4 to show data in Google Search Console Insights to provide a thorough overview of how people discover your content across the web.

Since its launch in June 2021, Search Console Insights has only been compatible with Universal Analytics (UA) properties.

New Features and Updates to Display & Video 360

Google had added new features and updates to Display & Video 360 with an improved creative appeal process, additional creative links from your partners, and the removal of the ability to select Meetrics as a third-party viewability vendor.

Google has also added support for product feeds to YouTube brand awareness and consideration campaigns. Advertisers will be able to feature compelling product imagery and details from a Google Merchant Center feed alongside a bumper, unskippable or skippable ad and encourage users to take action.

Google Merchant Center’s Shopping Experience Scorecard Program

Google Merchant Center has launched a shopping experience scorecard program to monitor the experience you provide to customers in several areas, including shipping speed, shipping cost, return cost, and return window.

Merchants will be given a rating of “Excellent”, “Comparable”, or “Opportunity” on each metric, and depending on your relative performance, your products may be eligible for a Trusted Store badge or increased visibility on the Shopping tab.

Auto-Tagging Feature Within Google Merchant Center

Google has announced its auto-tagging support within Google Merchant Center for all free listings and free local listings experiences across Google Search and properties. Previously, auto-tagging was only available for listings in the Shopping tab.

With the new update, you can now use auto-tagging to view conversions for all free listings and free local listings experiences on Google.

Google Merchant Center’s “Website Needs Improvement” Policy

Google Merchant Center has updated its editorial & technical requirement policy with the enforcement for the account issue “Website needs improvement” has changed. The policy is intended to protect customers from poor shopping experiences.

Previously, Merchant Center accounts with the “Website needs improvement” issue status were automatically disapproved. Now, free listings accounts with this issue status are still active, but their products have limited visibility on Google. This change applies to free listings only.
