Translated Results Search Filter on Google Search Console

Google Search Console had added “translated results” to the search appearance filter in the performance reports. This filter lets you drill down to how searchers who get translated results interact with your content in Google Search.

This report will break down what queries, pages, countries, devices these searchers are using when finding your content in Google Search.

Google’s Chain of Thought Prompting Can Boost Today’s Best Algorithms

Google announced a breakthrough research in Natural Language Processing called Chain of Thought Prompting that raises the state of the art of advanced technologies like PaLM and LaMDA to what the researchers call a remarkable level.

This means that Chain of Thought Prompting may have the potential to provide Google with the ability to significantly improve their various language models, which in turn can lead to significant improvements in the kinds of things Google can do.

New Google Ads Scripts Experience

Google Ads announced a number of script improvements called the “Google Ads script experience”. Google has also added support for ES6, the sixth edition of JavaScript standard ECMAScript 6.

To make it even easier to work with scripts in your account, Google Ads is rolling out a new script experience featuring improved performance, support for campaign bid strategies, and more. Lastly, Google Ads announced that legacy scripts will be going away on October 31st, 2022.

Google Search Console Performance Reports Logs Additional Desktop Features

Google Search Console’s performance report now logs impressions for additional desktop features specific to the Page Experience report. Google said you may see an increase in your desktop impressions when you filter by Good Page Experience in the search appearance filter.

This means that you may see an increase in desktop impressions in the page experience report and the performance reports when filtered by “good page experience”.

HTML5 Backup Image Deprecation

Google Campaign Manager 360 announced the Deprecation of backup image requirement for HTML5 creatives. Campaign Manager 360 will no longer require a backup image to be provided for HTML5 creatives.

These backup images will be made optional in the UI, and users won’t be required to provide them for HTML5 creatives.

Google Cloud’s New Assured Open Source Software Service

Google Cloud announced a new initiative called Assured Open Source Software, aimed at securing the open-source software supply chain by curating a security-vetted collection of open-source packages for Google Cloud customers.

The Assured Open Source Software service will extend the benefits of Google’s own extensive software auditing experience to Cloud customers. All open-source packages made available through the service are also used internally by Google and are regularly scanned and analysed for vulnerabilities.

Google Hotel Results Features Reviews for Things to do and Review Summaries

Google Hotel results are showing a section called ‘top things to know‘ curated by the reviews left in the hotel listings. Google is pulling together reviews for hotel listings to tell searchers what you can do in the area or at the hotel.

Google is also testing out summarising hotel reviews with review summaries using thumbs up or thumbs down review attribute icons.

Education Q&A Rich Results on Search Console Performance Reports

A week after Google announced support for Education Q&A structured data in Google Search, Education Q&A is now showing up in the search performance reports in Google Search Console.

This would be under the search appearance tab or filter in the Google Search performance report. The Education Q&A is available in English in all regions where Google Search is available. The feature is only available when searching for education-related topics on desktop and mobile.

YouTube to Display a Popularity Graph for a Video’s Most Replayed Moments

YouTube is updating its video player, which includes a graph of the most replayed parts of the video you’re watching that’ll help viewers jump to moments that get the most replays.

The feature was previously available as an experiment that YouTube Premium subscribers could access from YouTube.com/New, but it will now become available to all YouTube users, both free and Premium, across desktop, iOS and Android platforms.

Google Ads Issue with Access to Video Pages

Google is currently having access issues with video pages in Google Ads. If you are currently trying to access video pages in Google Ads you will likely be presented with a red banner error message.

The affected users are able to access Google Ads but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviour. Users trying to access Video pages in Google Ads Frontend will see an error message with the red banner.

Google’s Video Streams Through Automation

Google launched an automated video health tool that will help publishers get a better view of their video inventory. The new features are part of the Programmatic Video Health Tools and real-time video reporting.

According to Google “publishers with high programmatic inventory signal coverage see an average 25% revenue uplift compared to inventory with low programmatic inventory signal coverage”.

New Mobile Google Ad Experiment

Google confirmed they are experimenting with a new Google Ads label display that includes different verbiage like “advertisement” and “sponsored” above mobile search ads, instead of just saying “Ads”.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the test saying “This is part of a series of experiments to help users more easily identify the brand or advertiser associated with the Search ads they may see for a given query. We are always testing new ways to improve the experience for users on the search results page, but we don’t have anything specific to announce right now”.
