5 misconceptions about Data Science

The world of data Science is something that is very new to the system and that is just why there are a few myths that happen to exist in society.

  1. You need a masters degree to be a data scientists:

   Well, guys, I understand that there are the word scientists after Data, but that surely does not mean that you would have to take it up that seriously! Don’t worry, even if you have your bachelor’s completed, you are pretty much in for the courses and well prepared to be among the best that we have. Yeah, one thing to note here is, the Knowledge of python is something that you would want to have with yourself when you are starting off with the course, it would help you immensely.

  1. You can’t be a Data Scientist unless you have a full-time degree in it:

    This is a myth that I have been hearing more often these days. The companies out there are looking out for your knowledge and skillset trust me, they are not really worried about the mode of education that you have had. Thus, this is seriously something that you can leave aside when you are starting off with the preparations.

  1. You need to be a Mathematical or Computer wizard to get the nitty-gritty of Data science:

    This made me laugh for a second. Well, you don’t have to be. Even if you are from the commerce background or arts for that matter and have a little bit knowledge of python, you can always hop in and be as good as the engineers and mathematicians if not beat them!

  1. The theory is all that is expected from you:

   If only I got a penny to answer this question, I would have been a millionaire by now. Well, jokes apart, theoretical knowledge is important and we do not doubt that. However, without the case studies and industry expert views, half of what you learn in the theories remain in oblivion.

  1. Data Sciences Is All About Big Data;

    Well, a big part of data science is driven by data and hence big data is important, but trust me, that is not all. And you can still be a data scientist if you are not looking out to keep yourself buried in the big data.

Well, I think I have been able to break off some of the Misconceptions that you are having about Data Science as a whole. If you want to know more from us, please feel free to comment! We would surely try our best to respond.
