Google Maps Latest Feature Available in More Cities

Lime Scooter, Bikes & E-Bikes Available in 80 New Cities:

You’re leaving the train station after a longer than usual morning commute (dang it green line). You check your watch and unfortunately, you’re going to be a few minutes late to work. You know there are buses, taxis, Lyfts, and trains available. You also know where you’re heading, you don’t need roads. To arrive at your morning meeting on time, all you really need is a Bike. Too bad Google Maps doesn’t show me available public bike options… Worry no more!

Boston, did you hear the news?

As of this week, those of us living in Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Milton, Needham, Newton, Revere, Waltham, Watertown, and Winthrop have more access to transportation features on Google Maps.

On March 3rd, 2019, Google Map’s lime scooter, bikes, and e-bikes became available in 80 more cities. Using Google Maps, users can now view how much the price of renting a lime bike would cost, and the estimated arrival time if one chose to ultimately use a Lime bike. MassLive.com reports an 8-minute walk could be cut to five minutes if a user wants to walk one minute away to find a Lime bike, ride it for four minutes and pay $1.60.

Last year, Google Maps announced its partnership with Lime Scooter, Bikes and E-Bikes.

Last year, Google began rolling out new Lime transportation features in specific cities around the world. The partnership allows users to see nearby Lime bikes along with taxis, buses, Ubers, Lyfts and commuter trains. This partnership is a huge win for environmentalists. More public bike options help decrease the number of taxis and carbon emissions from cities. This partnership is also a huge step in the right direction for those of us wanting to adopt healthier lifestyles. Google’s The Keyword reports more cities throughout the course of this year will also have access to this new transit feature on Google Maps.

“Starting this week, you can see nearby Lime scooters, pedal bikes and e-bikes right from the transit tab on Google Maps in over 80 new cities around the world. When you need to travel short distances or that last mile, Google Maps can tell you if a Lime vehicle is available, how long it’ll take to walk to the vehicle, an estimate of how much your ride could cost, along with your total journey time and ETA.”
