Despite better coordination with Israel, the UN is fighting hunger in Gaza
The United Nations continues to fight to prevent famine in the Gaza Strip. Despite some progress in coordination with Israel, aid delivery to the Palestinian territory still faces difficulties, said Andrea Di Domenico, head of the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
There are significant delays at checkpoints. Last week, 41 percent of UN requests for aid to the north of the Gaza Strip were rejected. “We engage in this dance where we take one step forward, two steps back, or two steps forward and one step back, which basically keeps us at the same point,” Di Domenico told reporters. “For every new opportunity we have, there is a new challenge we must overcome.”
