According to a media report, thousands of Volkswagen Group vehicles are stuck in US ports. The Financial Times (“FT”) reported yesterday, citing informed sources, that Porsche, Bentley and Audi cars were confiscated at the ports.

A Volkswagen supplier found a Component in cars that violated an anti-forced labor law. According to the report, the Wolfsburg-based car company postponed vehicle deliveries until the end of March in order to replace an important electronic component coming from western China.

Banning the import of products from the Uyghur region

Volkswagen had no knowledge of the component's origin until the supplier informed the Wolfsburg-based company of the problem. The component was purchased from an indirect supplier in the supply chain.

According to FT, Volkswagen informed the American authorities as soon as it learned the origin of the piece. The United States bans the import of products made with forced labor in China's Xinjiang Uygur region and other areas of China. According to the report, Volkswagen did not want to comment on this matter.
