Tariff for tourists today | What vacationers in Venice need to know about entrance fees

The city of Venice is making plans to charge an Entrance Fee for day tourists. As of Tuesday (January 16) multilingual platform (http://cda.ve.it) Be effective. Here visitors can access a QR code that they must show during scans. This certifies the payment of the contribution or exemption. The entrance fee is five euros, and is due 29 days a year.

This excludes students, children and employees

Tourists over the age of 14 must pay an entrance fee. Residents, people born in Venice, property owners (even if they don't live there), students and workers do not have to pay an entrance fee. Children under 14, persons with disabilities and accompanying persons must make a reservation but are not required to pay. All people staying in hotels and holiday apartments in the Old Town are exempt from payment. Anyone who does not pay will face a fine ranging from 50 to 300 euros.

Entrance fees will be charged on a total of 29 days in 2024: from April 25 to 30, May 1 to 5 and on all other weekends (Saturday and Sunday) until July 13 and 14. This does not include the Republic Day weekend (June 1 to 2).

Venice has been struggling for years against the influx of tourists and has repeatedly tried different strategies to deal with the mass influx. According to Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, the entrance fee will primarily go towards maintaining and cleaning the city.
