U2 opens a huge event hall in Las Vegas

Irish rock band U2 opened Las Vegas’ new ballroom, Msg Sphere, with a stunning live show. “This is Elvis’ Cathedral!” Singer Bono shouted last night after the first songs, all from the album “Acht Baby” (1991).

A massive screen with more than 250 billion pixels — stretching inside and outside the Hall — showed, among other things, a desert sunrise, the sparkling skyline around the hall, endangered species in Nevada, the ocean and fireworks.

Operator: The largest spherical hall in the world

Many celebrities attended the opening ceremony. Guests included former tennis players Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi and actors and actresses such as Elizabeth Banks, Dakota Fanning, Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston, Jon Hamm and Josh Duhamel.

According to operators, MSG Sphere is the Largest Spherical Hall in the world – measuring 111 meters high and approximately 160 meters wide. It can accommodate up to 20,000 people. The audience is surrounded by a huge LED screen, and special sound, wind, steam and various scents can be generated using the latest technology.
