Jonas Folger finished the MotoGP race in the points at the US Grand Prix. The 29-year-old Bavarian started as a replacement for injured Spaniard Pol Espargaro, benefited from a high failure rate and was classified twelfth.

Only 13 of the 22 drivers managed to finish the race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Stefan Bradl (Honda), taking over the Honda works from former world champion Marc Marquez of Spain, finished eleventh, but crashed in the state of Texas just before the end of the race.

Spaniard Alex Rins (Honda) takes on Italian Luca Marini (Ducati). France’s Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) completed the podium. Italy’s Marco Bessecchi (Ducati) finished sixth, extending his championship lead. Italian world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) won Saturday’s sprint race but crashed out of the main race while leading.

Lukas Dulovic retired from the Moto2 World Championship race shortly after. The 22-year-old from Eberbach drove the first race of the current season in Austin. Dulovich missed the first two Grands Prix due to injury. The German hopeful started the race from 23rd place and crashed on the first lap. The next race weekend of the Motorcycle World Championship will take place in Jerez (Spain) in two weeks.
