BCG gender diversity index: a small movement in Austria

the Boston Consulting Group Collected annually since 2018 “Gender Diversity Index” For the 50 largest companies listed in Austria. It shows that even in 2022, women in management positions in Austrian companies are still an absolute exception. In Austria, women in senior positions are still required to be compensated.

The indicator value is a maximum of 100 points. This indicates that in a company, men and women are equally represented on both the supervisory Board and the executive board, and receive, on average, the same level of remuneration.

Only 13 companies (2021: 10) achieved more than 50 points in the 2022 evaluation: Otakringer (86.2); Linz Textile (82.2); Marinomed (82.1); The first group (76.0); fig (70.6); OMV (66.5);Walford (66.3); UBM (64.8);BKS Bank (63.9); AT&S (61.2); Weinerberger (59.3); simbiti (54.7); Frauenthal (54.4).

It is urgently necessary for the younger generation to focus more on gender issues. Assuming gender equality continues at the same pace as it has in the past five years, it will be another 30 years before there is parity on boards. This is the actual result of the current study “Gender Diversity Index” [Stand 2022]Who is management consulting? Boston Consulting Group This year for the fifth consecutive year exclusively for Trend, the 50 largest listed companies have been scrutinized for gender equality in management and payroll.

The long way to the top

But still: five years ago, when BCG first conducted an index survey, it was even sadder. The percentage of female board members was six percent. Today it is twice as high. However, the powerful, higher-paying CEO jobs remain almost exclusively in the hands of men. Four women were at the top in 2022. However, if Elisabeth Stadler (CEO VIG) resigned in the middle of the year, there would only be three female CEOs with Herta Stockbauer (BKS Bank), Silvia Schmitten-Walgenbach (CA Immo) and Radka Doehring (@Immofinanz), as in 2018.
