18Former Chidambaram is yet again in controversy. The Aircel-Maxis case is far from being over and this time around, a fresh charge sheet is adding a twist to the tale. CBI has named both P Chidambaram and his son Karti in the charge sheet and CBI Judge OP Sahni is going to look upon the details on July 31.
This isn’t the first time that P Chidambaram’s name has come in the CBI investigation. His name along with his son has featured in the controversial Aircel-Maxis deal of Rs 3500 crore and INX Media case too, which adds up to around Rs 305 crore. The CBI investigation rallies around Chidambaram’s role as Union Finance Minister in 2006.
The way he allowed Foreign Investment Promotion Board to approve to a foreign firm instead of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has been the most dubious thing.

It is alleged that P Chidambaram had specific reasons to grant Mauritius based Global Communication Services Holdings Ltd which incidentally happens to be a subsidiary of Maxis.
Not only P Chidambaram and his son Karti, but also the Maran brothers are associated in this. The Maran brothers were later discharged by the special court due to lack of evidence.
The inclusion of such heavyweight names in the charge sheet automatically creates pressure upon Congress. The party is not having the best of time in South India and the scenario is not at all favoring them.
CBI certainly looks very confident regarding P Chidambaram’s alleged involvement in the whole procedure. This specific case has truly posed a question to the veteran leader’s political career.
