India Rejects UN Report On “Human Rights Violations” In Jammu And Kashmir As Something Fallacious

India on Thursday officially rejected a United Nation report that called for an international investigation into the alleged incidents of human rights violations by Indian forces in Kashmir.

Dubbing the UN report as fallacious in nature, a statement from External affairs ministry said “It is a selective compilation of largely unverified information. It is overtly prejudiced in nature and seeks to build a false narrative”

In its reaction, the Indian authorities further said that “the report violates India’s sovereignty and integrity”.

“ It is disturbing that those behind this report have chosen to describe internationally designated and UN-proscribed terrorist entities “as armed groups’ and terrorists as “ leaders” This undermines the UN-led consensus on zero tolerance to terrorism”, the MEA statement further said.

The report released by the UNO covers both the state of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

The Indian National Congress also backed the Government by dismissing the UN report outright.

While terming the report “as a prejudiced attempt by vested interests to hurt India’s sovereignty and national interests”, the grand old party also noted that “the report needed to be junked as it has not taken into account the ground realities in Kashmir and had encouraged terrorists by terming them as militant groups”.

However, Separatists and activists in the valley chose to describe the UN report as “long overdue one”

“Although much delayed, the report has recognized the rights violations,” said Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
