In the very first week of the year, Dalit protests in Maharashtra created a huge stir in the nation. During the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Koregaon on January 1st, 2018, there was widespread violence in Pune and so many other pocket regions.

A maratha youth was also killed in the viilence and  cars bikes and other vehicles were destroyed. The Dalit groups even called Maharashtra bandh on January 3rd. In fact, protests were staged all over Maharashtra. In this regard, the Pune Police has arrested five suspected urban terrorists. Among them, the police has recovered an explosive letter from Delhi based activist Rona Wilson, which is some sort of appreciation letter from one Maoist comrade to another.

The letter clearly indicates or rather highlights Congress links with the Maoists in mobilizing and funding the agitation. The letter also categorically infers how to CPM leadership had prior talks regarding legal and financial help in organizing the agitation. Here in the role of Jignesh Mewani, the Congress endorsed Dalit MLA, has been explained in detail.

In other words, Jignesh Mewani played the liasion between Congress and the Maoists. Side by side, it was also mentioned quite vividly that the whole agenda was supported by Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh leader Prakash Ambedkar. The most interesting aspect is that the letter contains information which indicates that Congress is working in hands with the Moaists to defeat BJP in Lok Sabha Elections scheduled next year.

Thus it is clear that in the Bhima Koregaon violence, Rahul Gandhi’s Congress used the Maoists and the Dalits as props to create chaos and disharmony in the country. Although Jignesh Mewani has not yet acknowledged his involvement in the whole episode, it is clear that he had his own interest in the sequence of political events. It is sad, shocking and disheartening that a century old political party is taking the help of anti-national fringe elements tk destabilize the country chiefly on narrow political interests.
