Indian politician and writer Shashi Tharoor have been accused of abetting in his wife Sunanda Pushkar 2014 suicide case. Four years after the death Sunanda Pushkar, finally her husband’s dubious role has now come out in open. Sunanda Pushkar’s death was one such incident which shook the country and displayed the cruel intentions of politicians. It showed how powerful lobbies would go to any extent to save themselves from getting exposed.

Sunanda Pushkar was that unlucky woman who got into the wrong circle and ultimately lost her life in dirty politics of Congress. It is because of Dr Swamy that the role of Shashi Tharoor in his wife murder case was revealed. Shahshi Tharoor tried all his best to twist the case, pose himself innocent and went to the extent of pressurizing the AIMS doctors to prove it as a suicide. But his role could not be kept secret for long as many evidence brought out by Dr Swamy and Republic TV put Shashi Tharoor in a fix.

The Delhi high court which is examining the case, has declared that there is sufficient evidence to show the role of Shashi Tharoor in Sunanda Pushkar’s death case and therefore he will now be tried as an accuse. The court has directed Shashi Tharoor to appear for hearing on July 7. Tharoor is now charged for abetting the suicide of his wife and hiding the information from the police.

The police say about a week before her death, Sunanda Pushkar had emailed her husband that she had “lost her will to live”. In an email on January 8, nine days before her death, she had written: “I have no desire to live…all I pray for is death.”

The charge sheet quoted a special investigation team as stating that Mr Tharoor “as a husband ignored Sunanda when she was sliding or slipping into depression and she had Alprax.” They had frequent fights, it says, and “through injury marks were not serious, they are consistent with claims that the couple fought.” A special probe team also said Mr Tharoor “ignored her calls and disconnected her calls in the days before her death.” Sunanda Pushkar used social media to reach him, but those messages were also ignored, says the charge sheet.

Dr Swamy has from before maintained the stand that Sunanda Pushkar’s murder was not just a family feud, but involved IPL angle and the corrupt dealing in the game. He has reiterated that the mafia had hired professional killers to murder Sunanda Pushkar who was probably administered a radioactive element to poison her.

Now that the case has reached the court, we wish to see Sunanda Pushkar get justice and criminals brought to books.
