The recent call of Congress party for unity amongst the opposition parties to fight BJP and its willingness to lean, bend, kneel down, prostrate and finally play the role of ladder or even the door mat to several regional parties show the magnanimity of congress party in accepting the fact that Congress has grown too old and bed ridden, need support and mercy of other to survive rest of its life.

In Karnataka congress has deep roots and its vote share is quite significant.  For several decades, congress is one of the most formidable forces in Karnataka and the party also has as many leaders as the cadres it has in the state.  But today congress has surrendered its pride, ego and arrogance that it had inherited over the decades to JDS that just won 37 constituencies and made the JDS leader as Chief Minister of the state.  Besides that it had also accepted that it cannot muscle flex to JDS and finally gave away the powerful ministries like finance to JDS.

The forthcoming assembly election in Madhya Pradesh, congress has already taken initiatives to partner with BSP in order to deal BJP.  Already the age old national party has got marginalized and has become a regional party and now it is giving space to other regional parties to deal BJP.

The problem of congress seems to be more than its survival or how the party could become relevant in Indian politics, it wants to stop BJP.   Congress is between devil and Dead Sea and either way its death is certain but it chooses to jumps into Dead Sea hoping other dying sailors would lent a helping hand to it.  Most of the political parties in India are also facing similar existential crisis of congress so it is wise for all those dying folks to come together and try their fortune by submitting a joint mercy petition to people.

In politics it is not just how to dwindle down the opponent but how one should make own significance and relevance is more important. For all the regional parties, to become relevant nationally is the sole mission besides being in power in their regional space.  Therefore gaining fully at regional level and giving some support to congress at national level is certainly a win-win strategy for them but for congress it is losing its identity and space at state level and may win some seats at national level due to the support of regional player.  So congress even if it wins and gains through such poll arrangements with regional players is going to go irrelevant politically.

Congress is playing the game of even if it loses, BJP should not gain.  The interesting facet of the game is that BJP is going to become much stronger than before and that is how the tenet of adaptation and evolution goes.  One who fights the adversary and adversity not only adapt but also evolve further and one who recedes become weak and has to survive strictly through tricks and camouflage.

The possible reason why Congress is in self-destructive mode may be due to the old folks who are still running the party.  Most of those old folks are close to 80’s or late 80’s.  They are already worn out from the minds of youth.  To keep them busy and keep them somewhat relevant, they may be pushing the party to such endangering position.  For them, the survival of Congress beyond their left of active life is not that important so it looks like they are using Congress to fulfill their self-gratification.

Thanks to the unwise dynast as their leader who is not assertive enough to possibly sense this folly and ploy of all those irrelevant age-old leaders, going into the self-defeating game.

Defeating BJP or Modiji alone cannot be the agenda of 2019 election.  How the agglomeration of various dirt’s and debris can lead India after defeating Modiji if they could, people of India has already started to think.

BJP also seems to be too rune on its part by not caring to the real issues of people the fuel price.  BJP finds fancier and seems to derive great joy in promoting faith-based healing practices and superstitious and superfluous aspects of our ancient tradition as holy truth and absolute science.
