Bollywood actor, producer and director Arbaaz Khan on Saturday 2nd June 2018 confessed his involvement in betting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) reports a leading news agency.
The actor confessed during the interrogation that he had bet in IPL matches last year and had lost Rs 2.75 crore. On Friday he was summoned to record his statement before the anti-extortion branch of Thane Police.

Before that in a letter sent to the actor, the police asked him to join the probe following the arrest of bookie Sonu Jalan who was placing bets on the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). The actor was made to sit face-to-face with Sonu Jalan. He reached the office of the Thane Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) in the morning.
The AEC busted the racket on 15th May 2018 and arrested four people along with Sonu Jalan lias Sonu Malad. Soun is one of the prime bookies of the country. The two are said to have known each other for over five years.
Sonu has been associating with betting racking since 2008 IPL session. He was even arrested at that time by police and one of the prime suspects to have associated with Karachi-based terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. Jalan revealed that had clients in South Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia besides in different state of India like Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Gujarat.
In his police statement, he had mentioned several prominent people of the country who bet heavy amounts on IPL team and players. Police have recovered around 100 names from the personal diary of Sonu. Police also got the name of a Pakistani politician in the diary.
